Mary Betty Jones Sangster, 1930-2021

Mary Betty Jones Sangster passed away Saturday, August 7th peacefully in her home. Born December 31, 1930 in Rison, Arkansas. Daughter of Walter Augustus and Hallette Bussy Jones. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ernest Luther Sangster.


She attended Rison Public Schools. After graduation in 1948 she attended Mary Hardin-Baylor for 2 years and in 1952 graduated from North Texas State College in Denton, Texas with a degree in Home Economics.


For one year she taught home economics in Danbury, Texas. She returned to Arkansas and worked for Arkansas Extension Service in Bradley and Grant Counties.


Married Ernest Luther Sangster on September 4, 1955. Member of Warren Junior Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church.


Betty was a Loving mother and grandmother and always proud of her family. She is survived by two daughters, Emily Lasiter (Jim) and Margot Vogel (Tripp). Four grandchildren, Bobby Hubbard, Johanna Lasiter, Sam Vogel, IV and Daniel Vogel and three great-grandchildren.


Betty loved her church and Sunday School Class. She was a true southern lady who was the best cook in South Arkansas and loved to play a competitive game of Bridge. She will be so missed by her family and friends.


Graveside service was 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Oakland Cemetery. Burial in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial to First United Methodist Church of Warren. Online guestbook www.frazerfuneralhome.com
