Big Sunday morning phone outage causes issues for debit card transactions and communication

A major phone outage this morning, Sunday, September 19, 2021 disrupted both cellular and landline services to a vast swath of communities in South Arkansas, including in Warren, Monticello, McGehee, and more.

The outage affected cell phones, broadband internet, as well as debit card transactions across the area. Reports came in throughout Warren of businesses only able to take cash, including many fast food locations.

MonticelloLive.com reported that sources indicated a cable was cut somewhere between Little Rock and Pine Bluff, “possibly in the Dixon Road area.”

Service has been restored throughout most of Bradley County, including those customers in Warren.

From the information Saline River Chronicle has gathered, the Warren Police Department’s phone lines are back up and running for calls. The 911 service never went offline.
