Bill Thompson, 1938-2021

Bill Thompson, age 82, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at home. He was born on December 13, 1938; graduated from Warren High School and served two years in the U.S. Army. On February 15, 1963 in Little Rock, AR, he married Miss Sandra Johnson. Bill managed the Kroger grocery store in Warren and retired after 15 years of employment. He also worked for WonderBread. Bill and Sandra loved their church family at Watson Chapel Baptist Church. He dedicated hours of volunteering for the Builders of Christ and to coaching sports to kids. Bill enjoyed playing golf. He spent many years serving the community on the Watson Chapel School Board.

Survivors include his children- Tracey Creel and Melvin, Greg Thompson and Amanda, and Mark Thompson; five grandchildren; a host of family including siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra Thompson, his son, Jason Thompson, and parents, Lum Thompson and Adaline Johnson Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to the Builders for Christ Fund, Watson Chapel Baptist Church, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.Bill’s service was at the Watson Chapel Baptist Church 1p.m. with Brother Steven Monk. The graveside was 3p.m. Tuesday, September 14th at Union Cemetery in Rye. Pallbearers included Kip Reep, Kay Reep, Brent Terrell, Brian Bridges, and Paul Dancer.
