Phyllis Thomas-Hines, 1952-2022

Phyllis Thomas-Hines, 69, of Warren, died January 2, 2022. Born July 17, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Jimmy and Mattie Thomas. She was a member of Weary Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Marsden, where she served as an usher. She was also a true Oakland Raiders fan, that was her team!

She was also preceded in death by six siblings, Jimmie Nell Russell, Lula McFarland, Ray Lee Thomas, Earl Thomas, James Thomas and Billy Thomas.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Yulonda Thomas, Natasha Hampton, Monica Hampton all of Warren; siblings, Harry Thomas, Roy Thomas (Marilyn) all of Warren, Barron Coleman of Little Rock, Vernita Kent of Maryland; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was January 9 at Weary Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Marsden with Rev. Kelcey Highsmith officiating. Burial in Weary Rest Cemetery, Marsden. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.

  1. To Yulonda and all of the Thomas Family, please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one. Getting through this loss is a process. There will be days when you are overwhelmed by their absence. Hold on. God is close and you have the prayers of many. Everyday find a way to honor all the good things she showed you. Thinking of you.

  2. Moma Phyllis will be missed so very much!! She was an icon of love, laughter, humility and family!! So thankful for being one of her bonus daughter’s????
