Warren School Board adopts Ready for Learning Plan with COVID guidelines

Warren, Arkansas – With five of the seven boards members present, the Warren School Board met in regular session for the January 2022 meeting. Vice Chairman Dr. Kerry Pennington presided. The Board approved the previous minutes and reviewed and approved the financial reports. There was a discussion as to the colors to be utilized in construction
of the new Arena and Elementary School.

After a brief executive session, the Board returned to public session and took the following personnel actions:

  • Accepted the resignation of Lesli Peek effective December 17, 2021 as Bruson instructor
  • Accepted the resignation of Kathryn Reams, effective January 28, 2022 as District Bookkeeper
  • Hired Dinora Castillo as Eastside paraprofessional
  • Approved unpaid leave of absence for Quavishia Banks

The Board then approved the renewing of the Warren School District 2022/2023 Educators Legal Liability/Employment Liability/Out of State General Liability Coverage from BXS Insurance.

The Board then approved the Ready for Learning Plan which lays out detailed COVID-19 Guidelines. Superintendent Cornish went over the plan in detail, spelling out isolation rules and timelines for students and staff who become COVID positive. Anyone desiring details are urged to contact Mr. Cornish or the school nurse.

Next, the Board voted to keep a mask mandate in place until further notice.

The Board then approved a one year extension of the superintendent’s contract.

After a brief report form Superintendent Cornish, the Board voted to adjourn. There were no public comments.
