Robotics highlighted at Warren Rotary weekly meeting

The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, March 15 inside the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church. The club heard from the remaining Warren Junior Rotarians Jacey Ashcraft, Stephanie Canuto, and Halley Childs before Rotarian Carla Wardlaw presented her program. Wardlaw’s program was the Warren Middle School Robotics Team. Robotics Instructor Jodi Taintor led off the presentation with some background information of the program before she introduced the 8th graders that participate in robotics. Most of the students in attendance spoke about their roles and the building of the robots, which do not come assembled as the kids have to figure out how to build them, along with how the competitions are conducted. Taintor also spoke about the competitions they had been to and mentioned that two teams had advanced to the semifinals of these contests. The Rotary Club members were able to watch some of the robots in action before the program concluded.
