Doubleheader featured Tuesday between Lady Jacks and Hamburg

WARREN, Ark. – The Lady Jack Softball Team hosted the Lady Lions of Hamburg in a doubleheader this evening. Hamburg defeated Warren 13-6 in game one and 12-2 in game two.

In the first game, Hamburg came out swinging. They jumped out to a 4-0 in the top of the first inning. Hamburg also picked up a run in the top of the second inning.

Warren picked up a run in the bottom of the second inning. Jacy Ashcraft led off with a single and scored on an Alyssa Higgins single.

Hamburg picked up another run in the top of the fourth.

Neither team put any points on the board until the sixth inning. Hamburg scored three more runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 9-1 lead.

The Lady Jacks made a game of it in the bottom of the sixth. Heidi Taulbee led off with a walk, followed by Bracey Bickers who reached when she was hit by a pitch. Anna Grace Bolland hit a two run RBI triple. Luci Woodard followed with an RBI triple and then Zoey Tullos’ double scored Woodard. Jacy Ashcraft’s single scored Tullos. Hamburg’s lead was cut to three.

The Lady Lions scored four more runs to make the score 13-6.

Unfortunately the Lady Jacks were unable score in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Anna Grace Bolland had a single and a double. Heidi Taulbee had two singles. Luci Woodard had a double and a triple. Zoey Tullos and Alyssa Higgins each had a single. Bracey Bickers had two singles, and Jacy Ashcraft had three singles.

Alyssa Higgins pitched all seven innings and had three strikeouts. Warren committed four errors in the field and left 11 base runners stranded.

In game two, the Lady Jacks got on the scoreboard first. Anna Grace Bolland singled and scored on Zoey Tullos’s single. Warren led 1-0.

In the top of the third Warren took a 2-0 lead when Zoey Tullos singled home Luci Woodard.

Hamburg scored a run in the third inning, but Warren still led 2-1.

Hamburg scored four runs in the fourth inning, three in the fifth inning, and four in the sixth inning to win 12-2.

In the game, Anna Grace Bolland and Zoey Tullos each had two hits. Heidi Taulbee and Jacy Ashcraft each had a hit.

Anna Grace Bolland had a great night defensively playing centerfield with eight unassisted outs.

Alyssa Higgins started at pitcher for the Lady Jacks. She pitched the first inning and struck out three. Hannah Taulbee came in to start the second and pitched four innings while striking out four.
