Jacks fall in a close battle Tuesday, end week with senior night Friday

WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lumberjack Baseball team fell to Monticello Tuesday evening in a tight game 3-2, and to Magnolia Friday by the final of 6-2 on senior night.

In Tuesday’s game vs. Monticello, Kolby Pope pitched a complete seven innings, giving up three runs. Pope allowed just five hits and struck out three and walked two.

A lead off homer from Monticello put the Billies up 1-0.

The Jacks scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Westin Hargrave RBI groundout and a run-scoring single from Creed Smith.

Warren held onto that lead until the sixth when Monticello tied it on a sacrifice fly. They then took the lead 3-2 on an RBI double.

The Lumberjacks were able to get a couple of runners on in the sixth and one in the seventh, but couldn’t get the tying run across the plate.

The Jacks had seven hits on the night. Landon Wolfe led the team with two hits. Ervin Rivera, Triston Woodall, Westin Hargrave, Creed Smith, and Sam Hollingsworth each had one hit a piece.

Friday evening, the Lumberjacks hosted Magnolia.

Aidan Reynolds pitched five and one-third innings. He gave up five runs, two of which were earned, on seven hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Creed Smith got the final five outs, and allowed an unearned run on no hits.

The Panthers of Magnolia took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first after a couple of singles and an error.

Although the Jacks would cut the deficit to 5-2 in the fifth, Magnolia went on to see the game out, winning 6-2.

Ervin Rivera went three for four, leading the orange and black at the plate.
