Jacks firing on all cylinders in win over Crossett

WARREN, Ark. – In a result that was never in doubt, the Warren Lumberjack Soccer Club defeated Crossett by the final of 8-1 Tuesday evening, April 19, 2022 at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium in Warren.

Through a few injuries according to the information received by Saline River Chronicle, Crossett was already playing with a reduced roster. The lack of depth would be a problem all night for the Eagles. Warren threatened often and early, although the first big chance came in the seventh minute as Hector Torres tested the keeper from distance. A low shot was well saved to keep things even at 0-0.

Ten minutes later Torres would claim the opener. A hammered shot put Warren ahead 1-0.

Lumberjack right winger Jose Garcia caused fits for Crossett out wide. In the twenty-second minute he won possession and took the ball into the box, where a late challenge by Crossett’s left back forced the referees whistle, and he pointed to the spot. Torres took the penalty kick and blasted it over the head of the keeper to extend Warren’s lead to 2-0.

Garcia gave the Jacks a third goal four minutes later. He rolled a close-range shot in the left corner. It was a wonderful finish that was more-or-less a pass into the netting.

Crossett did pull a goal back in the thirtieth minute from a free kick, but the Jacks answered not long afterwards when Alann Juarez rocketed a shot from his famous left foot. The keeper got a touch, but the shot had too much zing.

Daniel Sosa headed a fifth Warren goal in the fortieth minute. This time the chance came in the final seconds of the half from a corner. Warren led Crossett 5-1 at the break.

The Jacks would score three more before the final whistle. Tarion Marshall poked home an effort from a Garcia cross five minutes after the restart. Oliver Chavez-Mata and Giovanni Juarez both added a goal a piece late on as Warren beat Crossett by the final of 8-1.
