Francyne Bowie, 1939-2022

Francyne Bowie, 83, of Warren, died April 17, 2022. Born January 10, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Martha Jane York. She was known as one of the matriarchs of her family. She was caring, funny and unpredictable. She loved her family fiercely and served her Lord and Savior all the days of her life.

Francyne met Jessie J. Bowie at Porter’s Restaurant and Barber Shop in Warren on Elm Street. After six months of courtship, the two joined into holy matrimony on September 13,1964 by Rev. Parson of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. They were married 58 years.

She was known for her cooking and baking. She could make you the best meal this side of Arkansas and a dessert that would have you craving it for days.

She was also preceded in death by six siblings, a daughter and a granddaughter.

Francyne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jessie Jerry; daughter, Deirdre; grandchildren, Amanda, B.J., Cerric; three sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held on April 30 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church North Warren with Rev. Robert Cook pastor and Rev. Johnny Smith Jr. eulogist. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery in Warren. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
