James “Jim” Daniel Rose IV, 1947-2022

James “Jim” Daniel Rose IV passed away at his home in the Ebenezer Community on May 10, 2022, and is now reunited with his wife of fifty-five years, Becky Adams Rose, who had predeceased him by only 20 months.

He was born on July 12, 1947 in Michigan to James Daniel Rose III (of Missouri) and Virginia Maedine O’Neal (of Warren). He had deep roots here, as the earliest of his O’Neal family first emigrated from Northern Ireland to the American colonies in the late 1600’s and eventually made their way to Bradley County by the mid 1800’s. His ancestors on both sides fought in the Revolutionary War up through WWII, and Jim inherited their fighting spirit.

Jim spent most of his life in San Diego where he ran track in high school and managed Covert’s Glass Company. He and Becky retired to Warren in 1994 to care for her aging parents, Brian and Evelyn Adams, and to take over their multi-generational family farm. Jim was a hard worker and provider for his family. He loved a good prank, spicy food, a clever game of chess, the San Diego Chargers, and had a wicked sense of humor. As the 80’s classic song so eloquently conveyed… “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” – and Jim Rose was no exception. He was a complicated man with many thorny attributes, but could be warm, engaging and fun-loving when the mood struck.

He is survived by his sons James Daniel “Danny” Rose V, (and his wife Bridget) of Hermitage, AR and Robert Brian Rose of Warren, AR; granddaughter Jordyn (Rose) Phillips (and her husband, Keaton) and their daughter Nora Ellis of Clarksville, AR.; step-grandchildren Blaine and Jolyn Forrest of Hermitage, AR; sister Jill Hagler (and her husband Jim) and their daughters Julie and Ashley Hagler of Bend, Oregon; and also his niece Georgie Denman in California – all of whom loved him despite his many thorns.

Private Memorial Service with interment at Ebenezer Cemetery in Warren, AR.
