Warren School Board approves resignations and new hires

Six of the seven members of the Warren School Board were onhand Monday evening, June 13 to conduct the monthly business of the District. In addition to the regular reports from all
school administrators and the financial updates, the board came out of an executive session to make a number of personnel decisions. The following personnel matters were approved by unanimous vote:

Resignations approved

  • Leon Harris-Head Girls Basketball Coach, Assistant Junior High Girls Basketball Coach, Assistant Senior High Girls Track Coach and WHS PE Instructor
  • Tyler Raines-Brunson Instructor
  • Melanie Vereen-8th Grade Science Instructor
  • LaShae Thomas-Eastside Special Ed Paraprofessional
  • Laci Bratton-ABC Lead Teacher
  • Ashley Herring-ABC Paraprofessional

New Hires Approved

  • Amanda Ozment-K-5 Music Instructor
  • Candace Cox-WHS Art Instructor
  • Laci Bratton-ABC Director/Coordinator
  • Shanita Patton-Paraprofessional at ABC
  • Mayra Rodriguez-Paraprofessional at ABC
  • LaShae Thomas-Computer Lab Facilitator at SEACBEC
  • Jennifer Helms-Secretary at SEACBEC

In other business, the board approved the following items:

  • Legislative Joint Auditing Audit-No findings
  • Approved the Electronic transfer of funds
  • Approved list of students for transfer into the District and to leave the District, 12 new students and 12 leaving
  • Approval of handbook changes
  • Approved Superintendent Cornish and Treasurer Denecia Sellers as Ex-Officio board members to sign checks
  • Approved Howard Technology ActivePanel for Elementary School at a cost of $262,787.96
  • Approved Howard Technology ActivPanel for Warren High School at a cost of $292,993.73 to be paid for by insurance claim
    8.Approved 26 Computers for Warren High School at a cost of $35,274.33 to be paid for by insurance claim
  • Approved ABC School Grant for the 2022-2023 school year with maximum funding in the amount of $583,050.00, to fund 115 students
  • Approved purchase of furniture for temporary modular buildings to be used while High School is under construction. Furniture will be moved
    to renovated High School when complete.
  • Approved 2022-2023 ABC Salary Schedule
  • Approved 2022-2023 Stipend Schedule
  • Amended 2022-2023 Administrative Salary Schedule to 245 days for administrators
  • Approved Resolution of Disclosure due to one employee salary exceeding pay
  • Approved T & T Construction for tree clearing and expanding the high school parking lot
    All votes were unanimous.

Superintendent Cornish gave an update on the building project for the new elementary school and the arena. He stated the reconstruction of the high school will focus on the cafeteria, then the roof and the remainder of the building, and last the auxiliary gym. He also thanked everyone for their help with the 2022 graduation. Warren graduated 107 students.
