Hogs fall in close battle vs. A&M

ARLINGTON, Tex. – Falling for the first time this season in SEC play, the Arkansas Razorback lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday evening, September 24, 2022 by the final of 23-21 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Arkansas got of the mark quickly in the opening quarter courtesy of a 32-yard touchdown pass from KJ Jefferson to Ketron Jackson Jr. to give the Hogs a 7-0 lead.

With 5:25 left in the opening period it looked as if Arkansas might run away with things. Jefferson connected with Warren Thompson on a third and long play for a 56-yard touchdown to take a 14-0 lead.

A&M answered back with 8:45 to go in the second quarter, cutting the Hogs lead through a 10-yard touchdown pass to Evan Stewart.

The tables were thoroughly turned with just three minutes to go before the halftime break, when Jefferson fumbled near the goal line while attempting a dive into the end zone. A&M recovered, looked to be tackled, but instead a handoff was made to Damani Richardson, who took it 82-yards for the touchdown. A&M would fail on the extra-point conversion. Arkansas took a 14-13 lead into halftime.

A&M continued their late first half run, eventually scoring 23 total unanswered points.

Arkansas scored again to cut the A&M lead to 23-21 with 10:05 to go. However, the Hogs missed a late field goal to potentially go ahead.
