Arkansas drops second SEC game in loss to No. 2 Alabama

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Struggling to come back from a woeful first half against the number two ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, the Arkansas Razorbacks made a fight of it, but fell by the final of 49-26 at home in Fayetteville Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Arkansas surrendered 28 unanswered points by the two minute mark of the second quarter, eventually pulling a touchdown back just before the halftime break.

The Hogs put a comeback together in the third, finishing up a run which saw them score 23 unanswered points and coming to within five of Alabama. However, the Tide exploded on multiple big plays down the stretch to end Arkansas’s pursuit.

Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson threw for 155 yards, going 13 of 24.

Raheim Sanders led the Hog rushing attack, picking up 107 yards on 22 carries. Jefferson also logged 67 yards on the ground through 17 touches.

Arkansas falls to 3-2 on the year, and 1-2 in SEC play.

“We have to do better, we have to play better and we have to regroup,” said Coach Sam Pittman in his post-game press conference. “Last year we lost three in a row then won five of the last six. We have to find a way to turn it around. I know we played two really good teams the last two weeks, but we have to play better regardless of what the score is and what it becomes. We have to play more consistent, tackle better, convert third downs and things of that nature on offense.”

Arkansas gets set to travel to Mississippi State next Saturday, October 8, 2022 to face the Bulldogs. That game kicks off at 11:00 a.m.
