Re-New-ing Edinburg to host drive-thru fall festival October 29

The Re-New-ing Edinburg group met September 20, 2022 at the New Edinburg Community Center to discuss a variety of upcoming projects throughout the holiday season.

The group voted to go ahead with the purchase of replacement light bulbs for the New Edinburg Christmas lights. According to member Susanne Wagnon, around $150 had already been donated towards the project. The group elected to pay the remains balance of $506.19 to get the replacement lights. The total cost of the project was $656.19

Member Trenna Kemp told the group she’s found a potential Christmas ornament that the group can pass out to kids visiting Santa this year at the community center. The group held a short discussion in regards to other options as well.

They next addressed holding a workday Monday, October 17, 2022 to refurbish the Christmas decorations that are being stored at the old fire station. The workday was held Monday at 9:00 a.m.

A fall festival drive-thru event set for October 29 was talked about. The group voted to purchase enough candy for 1000 bags with six pieces of candy each. The group will hold another workday to fill the candy bags Monday, October 24, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ahead of the fall festival. A separate workday is planned for Friday, October 28, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. to setup for the event, which has been a big success in the past.

A community center fall fundraiser previously scheduled for October 22 has been cancelled. Re-New-ing Edinburg held discussions about potentially making a donation to the community center to help cover operation costs. No decision was made according to the report.
