Back after a short holiday break, Warren’s Lady’s team came into Wednesday’s ballgame needing a win to create some positive momentum. While they came up short, a much better performance overall provided some light for the future weeks ahead.

Rison’s Lady Cats applied an intense press early in the first quarter. They were able to create several turnovers. With under two minutes gone in the first period Rison had jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Warren senior Tessa Andrus put an end to the early quarter goal drought for the orange and black by downing a three with 4:30 to go in the opening period of play. She would sink another shot on Warren’s next possession to cut further into the Rison lead.

Warren only recorded one shot from the field in the second quarter. That came courtesy of point guard Cherish Dooley with 5:40 to go in the second quarter. Rison took a 33-10 lead into the half.

The Lady Jacks fought hard in the third and fourth quarter. Andrus, Dooley, and center Michaela Stanley each got on the board in the second half. However, it wasn’t enough as Warren’s tournament run ended with a 53-25 loss to Rison.

Tessa Andrus led the Lady Jacks with 13 points, her season high to-date. Cherish Dooley posted six points, all from beyond the arc. Michaela Stanley and Aniyah York scored a bucket a piece, while Raven Harris and Aaliyah Walton both score one from the line.

Warren worked hard on the boards. Stanley posted eight rebounds. Harris followed her with six.

The Lady Jacks’ record moves to 0-6 on the year. They get a few days off ahead of a Tuesday, January 3 trip to battle Monticello. That game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
