Big Festival Friday finishes with a top-notch performance by Josie Hargis; more fun set for Saturday

WARREN, Ark. – The Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival continued to captivate locals and visitors alike on Friday night, June 8, 2023, with a plethora of activities and entertainment that kept the downtown area bustling.

Throughout the day, festival-goers were treated to an array of engaging activities. The Arts & Crafts exhibits on Myrtle Street and Cedar Street Emergency Services Building showcased the talents artisans, offering a diverse range of handmade goods. The YMCA hosted a captivating Quilt Show, where attendees marveled at the intricate designs and craftsmanship on display.

The main stage came alive with the enchanting musical performance by Josie Hargis, a rising star in the music industry. Hargis, who embarked on her musical journey only a few years ago, has quickly gained recognition for her talent. In 2020, her original composition titled “My Best Friend” went viral on TikTok, accumulating over 2.3 million views. With a strong online following of 100K TikTok fans, Hargis’s presence on the stage was met with enthusiasm and anticipation. Quite a large crowd was on hand downtown to catch her show Friday evening.

The carnival, a perennial favorite among festival attendees, proved to be another big hit on Friday night. The vibrant lights, exhilarating rides, and the joyful screams of laughter created an electrifying atmosphere.

Of course, no festival would be complete without a delectable assortment of foods, and the Pink Tomato Festival’s food vendors did not disappoint. From classic fair favorites like corn dogs and funnel cakes to mouthwatering tomato-inspired creations, attendees were treated to a wide range of tasty treats to satisfy their appetites.

Looking ahead, Saturday promises to be an action-packed day with a jam-packed schedule of events. Festival-goers can start their morning by participating in the Pink Tomato Festival 5k Run/Walk sponsored by Emrich & Scroggins, LLP. The Information Booth at the Chamber, sponsored by Bradley County Medical Center, will be open throughout the day, providing valuable resources and information.

Car enthusiasts will delight in the Car Show on Main Street, where vintage and modern vehicles will be on display. The Arts & Crafts exhibits on Myrtle Street and Cedar Street Emergency Services Building will continue to showcase an assortment of goods, while the Quilt Show at YMCA will captivate visitors with its intricate designs.

The day will be filled with entertainment for all ages, including comedy and magic shows by Derrick Rose on the Square, a festival parade through downtown Warren, and a thrilling Tomato Eating Contest sponsored by Union Bank. Local talent will grace the Square, showcasing their skills and adding a touch of community pride to the festivities.

The day will also feature the eagerly anticipated Little Miss Pink Tomato Pageant at First Methodist Church Fellowship Hall and a Hispanic DJ & Activities event on West Cypress Street, sponsored by Y10 Studio.

As the evening sets in, the Main Stage will host captivating performances by Trea Landon and David Nail, promising to keep festival-goers entertained well into the night. The grand finale will culminate with a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by First State Bank of Warren, Hermitage, & Hampton, illuminating the night sky and providing a fitting end to this year’s Pink Tomato Festival.
