Re-New-ing Edinburg meets to discuss April business

The following are the complete minutes from the recent April 2024 Re-New-ing Ediburg Committee Meeting:

Roger McClellan, President, welcomed those in attendance and called the meeting to order.  The minutes of the April meeting were previously emailed to members but also passed out to those in attendance.  Motion was made by Don Triplett, seconded by Linda Hornaday, to accept minutes as presented.   Motion passed.

Linda Hornaday, Treasurer, presented the financial statement and with no corrections or additions, it will be filed for audit.

Roger McClellan informed the group that an additional five US flags and two poles are required to have the fifteen flags in downtown New Edinburg prior to Memorial Day.  Motion was made by Don Triplett, seconded by Luis Tolano, to purchase the required materials.  After minimal discussion, motion carried.  Roger volunteered to purchase the materials and install the flags.

Members are reminded to turn in their miles of trash picked up and number of bags of trash collected  as a participant in the Great American Cleanup that was complete at the end of April.  Roger thanked everyone who participated in this event and their continued support of this local community cleanup.

Everyone in attendance agreed the All School Reunion was a great success and was enjoyed by everyone who attended or volunteered.  Following an after action review, those in attendance agreed to set the date for the 2025 All School Reunion for April 26, 2025, keeping the date the last Saturday in April.  Everyone was completely satisfied with Dorey’s Catering services this year.  Motion was made by Don Triplett, seconded by Melody Spears, to request Dorey’s Catering to provide the catfish and chicken meal again next year similar to this year.

This week has been designated Emergency Servies week.  Melody Spears made a motion, seconded by Martha Tolano, for Re-New-ing Edinburg to provide Subway sandwiches, chips and cookies to our local Ambulance Service employees who are based in Rison.  Roger volunteered to pick up and deliver these items to the EMS personnel in Rison on Wednesday.

Martha Tolano made a motion, seconded by Melody Spears, to schedule our annual Back-to-School Splash for August 10, 2024 at the New Edinburg Community Center.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn.  Motion passed.  The next meeting will be held June 18st at 6 pm.
