Alleyssa Horn of New Outlook Counseling speaks to Warren Rotary

The Warren Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Oct. 5 inside the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church as the program was presented by Alleyssa Horn of New Outlook Counseling, which is a counseling center located here in Warren. She was the program for Rotarian Andrew Tolbert. Horn is a graduate of Warren High School and studied at Penn State Mont Alto before earning a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. She is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). It was always a goal of hers to move back to Warren after college and open up her own mental health facility because you have to go out of town, sometimes far out of town, to get mental health care. She spoke very passionately about her profession and desire to help out Warren and other communities in Southeast Arkansas. Her program continued with explaining what mental health is and some of the issues she sees in her clients. She also spoke on the stigma of seeking mental health services and how we need to get over that stigma so more people can get the help they need. She mentioned that mental health issues can include, but aren’t limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. It was a very informative program and Warren is lucky to have her and New Outlook Counseling in town.
