Barbara Jo “Jodie” Dawson, age 85 of Dallas, GA formally of Fountain Hill, AR passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 in Dallas, GA. She was born December 4, 1936 in Monticello, AR to the late Oscar Dawkins and Arra Hogue Dawkins. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello, AR.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Henry “Bill” Dawson whom she married July 2, 1982 and he passed away on August 3, 2020. Brother, Leonard Dawkins and sisters, Ione Gibson and Vivian Horn.
Survivors include her sons, Billy Gates and wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, OK and Larry Gates of Fountain Hill, AR; daughter Angie Acree of Dallas, GA. Four grandchildren, Dakota Acree, Hunter Acree, Si Acree and Katie Gates and great-grandchild, Liana Jo Acree.
Graveside service was held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Lacey Cemetery in Drew County, AR with Bro. Gary Carter officiating. Burial was in Lacey Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Billy Gates, Larry Gates, Dakota Acree, Hunter Acree, Si Acree and Dee Gibson.
