Joyce Mae Green Williams, 84, of Warren, died March 19, 2022. Born April 3, 1937, she was a daughter of the late John and Arrie Green. She received her education through Hermitage Public School District.
She married Lawrence Preston in 1959 and remained until his passing on April 4, 1969. They moved the family to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1962, where Joyce gained employment with Four Queens Hotel and Casino. In 1979, she went to work for the Clark County School District, Brinley Junior High School, until her retirement in 1983.
Joyce was married to David Williams Sr. in 1974, they were together until his death on July 7, 1998.
Joyce confessed her love for Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Oakalone AME Church in Banks. She later joined The Greater Mt. Sinai Missionary Recruiting Ministries in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was faithful to the church and introduced her children and grandchildren to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Lenette Preston-Threats, Arrita Preston; sister, Martha Sue Preston; brothers, Lee Morris Green, George Edward Green, J.B. Green, Bobbie Green, Mike Green; grandson, Antonio Meeks.
She is survived by her children, Bobbie Newson (Jeffery Sr.), Ollie Turner (Sylvester), Janet Preston-Edwards, Paul Preston (Denise), Chiant’e Barnett, Christopher Wheeler (Yvette), Steven Barnett (Jolene), Rayvon Barnett (LaTasha), Shoshone Barnett (Stephanie); stepson, David Williams Jr.; brothers, Sherman Green, Roggie Green, Willie Green (Bea); step siblings, Garland Burns (Babe), Leon Burns, Marilyn Burns; goddaughters, Sabrina Lock, Debra Doss-Merritt; fifteen grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was April 16 at Bethel AME Church in Warren with Rev. Christopher Wheeler officiating. Burial was in Hall Cemetery in Banks. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
