Lumberjack band holds awards banquet

Rising like a phoenix from the ashes, Warren High School Band held its first banquet in several years on Thursday night at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Director Kevin Dunn noted that several awards would have to be replaced as they were lost in the fire, along with some damage to instruments. However, he said several band directors throughout the state had reached out to provide loans of instruments which made it possible to have the spring concert scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at Warren Cultural Center.

Also assisting Dunn in presenting awards were Warren Middle School director Bobby Hagler and band intern Logan Corrigan.

Senior service awards were presented to N’kosi Boyd, Olivia Brown, Zoey Carroll, Miles Hargrave, Bailey Herring, Anna Herron, Hannah Herron, Viviana Herron, Landon Jennings, David Kessler, Harley Latta, Josef Rawls, Blaine Savage, Pierce Wargo, James Wells and Jake Worriax.

Junior High Jazz All-Region awards were given to Jackson Bratton, second chair baritone saxophone, and J’Ciana Strong, second chair trumpet.

Junior High All-Region awards went to Christopher Cristosomo, first band 25th chair Bb clarinet; J’Ciana Strong, first band first chair French horn; William Wells, second band third chair bass clarinet; James St. John, second band fourth chair alto saxophone; Colton Calloway, second band second chair tenor saxophone; Jackson Bratton, second band first chair baritone saxophone; and Joshua Myers, second band fourth chair trumpet.

Senior High All-Region awards went to Abigail Raines, first band 18th chair Bb clarinet; Olivia Brown, first band second chair bass clarinet; Harley Latta, first band third chair trumpet; Emma Mann, first band sixth chair French horn; Landon Jennings, first band second chair baritone TC; Braniya Davis, second band eighth chair Bb clarinet; Jacob Wolfe, second band first chair tuba; Maxx McGaha, second band fifth chair tuba; Abby Mendez, first alternate baritone saxophone; Josef Rawls, first alternate percussion; and Alice Regalado, third alternate trombone.

Four States Jazz Band honors went to Alice Regalado, trombone, and Jake Worriax, electric guitar.

Four States Concert Band honors went to Braniya Davis, Bb clarinet; Viviana Herron, Bb clarinet; Olivia Brown, bass clarinet; Zoey Carroll, bass clarinet; Harley Latta, trumpet; and Landon Jennings, baritone TC.

The Governor’s Award and the John Philip Sousa Band Award went to Harley Latta.
