I tithe because:

It is a matter of God’s ownership. I with because it demonstrates my belief that God is the owner of all things and all that I have comes from Him. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, the gold and the silver all belong to Him (Psalm 50:10; Haggai 2:8)

It is a matter of Biblical Principle. The tithe started before the law was given. (Genesis 14:18-20) The tithe was commanded in the law. (Leveticus 27:30) While Jesus told the Pharisees that they should practice mercy, He also made it clear that the Pharisees should not stop their strict practice of the tithe. (Matthew 23:23)

It is a matter of obedience. “Bring All the tithe into the storehouse.” That is a command. (Malachi 3:10) It is a matter of trust in God. In regard to the tithe, it is the only time God tells His people to put Him to the test. When I tithe, I am saying to myself and others, I am going to trust God to take care of my material and financial needs. When I do not tithe, I’m sinning not only to my lack of obedience, but also for my unbelief in His Word.

It is a matter of opening the windows for God’s Blessings. God makes it clear that He will bless those who do tithe. When I do not tithe, I close the window through which God has chosen to bless His people. (Malachi 3:10-12)
