York posts double digits in Lady Jack loss to Dumas in game one of Holiday Classic

DUMAS, Ark. – Appearing for game one of their two to play in the Dumas Holiday Classic Tournament, the Warren Lady Jacks lost to the Dumas Lady Cats by the final of 55-18 Thursday evening, December 15, 2022.

Although the Lady Jacks have struggled in the opening couple of weeks of the season thus far, Thursday night’s performance felt a bit different, with several players seemingly gaining a foothold, one that hopefully can propel the team in the weeks ahead following the Christmas break.

Both Warren and Dumas struggled early on finding a basket. The Lady Jacks did take a 3-2 lead with around 5:50 to go in the first quarter when Aniyah York knocked down a three. Warren would struggle following York’s basket in the first. Only Raven Harris recorded another shot from the field in the opening period. Dumas opened up a 16-5 lead before the start of the second quarter.

The second quarter saw a better effort, as Taliyah Walton hit a three. York would bank in another shot moments later. However, Dumas took a 34-12 lead into the half.

Warren suffered a difficult third quarter. Dumas held the orange and black scoreless in the period.

York hit her second three of the night in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to thwart an intense Dumas Lady Cat fourth. Warren fell by the final of 55-18.

Aniyah York had a breakout night for Warren with 11 points and three rebounds. She led the Lady Jacks on the scoresheet.
