A former Warren school employee pleaded guilty to several charges including rape on Wednesday and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Crews Puryear to serve 20 years in Arkansas Department of Correction.

Kaitlyn Ann Raines, 24, was set for a jury trial this week in Bradley County Circuit Court but entered a negotiated plea of guilty before the trial began. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Harrod represented the state and Chuck Gibson represented Raines.

She pleaded guilty to four counts of felony first-degree sexual assault and was sentenced to 240 months in ADC with an additional 36 months of suspended imposition of sentence on each count, which were to run concurrently.

Raines also has to pay $250 court costs, $40 booking/administrative fees, $250 DNA sample fee, $100 Children’s Advocacy Center Fund fee, $999 other fees and $250 sex offender fee. She must register as a sex offender.

The prosecutor’s report indicates she was a teacher in a public school engaged in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity with two of her male students. The defendant knew or had reason to know the victims were particularly vulnerable (aged, handicapped, very young, etc.). There was a violation of position of public trust or recognized professional ethics.
