Warren and Monticello both scored 8 points apiece in the third period to keep the Ladyjacks’ deficit at six points as they trailed 28-22 entering the final quarter. However, Monticello was able to extend the lead early in the period but a couple of three-pointers by York pulled the Ladyjacks within striking distance. However, it proved to be a little too late as Monticello outscored the home team 17-10 to earn a 45-32 conference victory.

York’s impressive night was a performance to remember as Warren opened its brand new facility. She grabbed 10 rebounds in the first half and, despite not scoring in the first quarter, scored five points in the second period before compiling 13 points and seven boards in the final half.

Amari Russell corralled 10 rebounds of her own and chipped in with three points. Harris had a strong game for the Ladyjacks as she scored six points and secured eight rebounds. Tessa Andrus was the only other scorer for the home squad as she posted five points and three rebounds.

Michaela Stanley secured five rebounds for Warren, with Aaliyah Walton adding four boards of her own. Taliyah Walton rounded out the rebounding statistics for the Ladyjacks with one.

The Lady Jacks are now 1-15 on the season with a Conference 8-4A record of 0-8.

Warren is set to play conference foe Stuttgart Tuesday, Jan. 31 inside the new Lumberjack Arena with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Editor’s Note: I would like to say a big thank you to Dennen Cuthbertson for filling in for me in covering Friday’s games. I have been under the weather this week and was crushed to not be able to attend the first senior games in the new Arena, but Dennen did a marvelous job! Also a big thanks to Robert Camp for his photography work in my absence.
