Early sparks can’t sustain Lady Jacks in loss to Stuttgart

WARREN, Ark. – Once again there were bright spots and moments when Warren looked a much improved team, however the Lady Jacks dropped another 8-4A Conference game Thursday night to Stuttgart by the final of 52-23.

Aniyah York was on fire early in the first. She knocked down a three on her way to a six point first quarter. Coupled with a basket from Michaela Stanley, the Lady Jacks put up eight in the first. However, Stuttgart made three treys in a row and posted 11 unanswered points to take a 17-8 lead into the second period.

Stanley caught a spark in the second quarter. The senior hit a couple of baskets to helps Warren’s cause. Point guard Cherish Dooley added a three, but the Lady Jacks fell behind 29-16 at the half.

Warren suffered a scoring drought in the second half. The team scored seven second half points and faded. Warren lost 52-23.

Michaela Stanley and Aniyah York shared the high score tally with six each. Stanley also led the team on the boards with five rebounds.

Aaliyah Walton scored five points on the night. Dooley scored three, Raven Harris two, and Paris Wright one.

York posted four rebounds, while Tessa Andrus, Amari Russell, and Raven Harris each had three. Dooley and Aaliyah Walton each knotted two rebounds a piece.

The Lady Jacks moved to 1-17 overall and 0-10 in the 8-4A Conference. They are back in action hosting Hamburg Friday night, February 10. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
