Fire engulfs building at Warren Schools bus barn Saturday

WARREN, Ark. – Warren City and Bradley County Rural fire crews responded to a significant fire which broke out Saturday around noon at the Warren School District’s bus barn on Seminary Street.

From the information SRC gathered on the scene, 911 was alerted by a nearby business owner of the fire around noon Saturday, February 4, 2023. Crews from the Warren Fire Department were on the scene very rapidly as thick smoke billowed from both the east and west side of an office and storage building on the bus barn property. The biggest concern was getting the fire under control quickly so that two large diesel tanks situated on either side of the building were not compromised.

Within two to three minutes smoke billowed from the roof of the building faster and stronger.

Warren Fire Department Engine 6 was the first on the scene. Bradley County Rural Engine 7 was called in moments later. Crews were fast to get to work and the fire was under control by 12:17 p.m. The building, which sits on the south end of the bus barn property, appeared to have sustained significant interior damage.

By 12:34 p.m. very little visible smoke could be seen and Fire Department crews were busy assessing the damage.

It looked as though 15 to 20 firemen were on the scene working the fire.

Warren Police Department officers as well as deputies with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department were on site as well.

No cause was immediately known.
