Patrick Marshall is a Banks native who has steadily worked his way up the ladder to become the manager of The Mad Butcher grocery store in Warren.
He has four children: Latoya Steele, Little Rock; Deundre Cone, Little Rock; Hannah Marshall, Warren; and Jacob Marshall, Warren.
He went to work at the former Piggly Wiggly grocery store for three years. He started working at The Mad Butcher in December 2005 as assistant manager and became manager when Boyce Hamlet retired seven years ago.
Marshall served as chairman of Bradley County Chamber of Commerce board of directors for one year.
The store currently has 48 employees. It has been impacted by supply chain issues and the COVID pandemic. “Some things we can’t get like name brands,” he said. However, the grocery store chain has just switched from Southhaven, Miss., to a new warehouse in Fernando, Miss., which should help with the supply issues.
The store serves EBT and WIC recipients. It also tries to run sales on as many items as possible.
Marshall said he assists Ebenezer Baptist Church and Southeast Arkansas Community Action food banks.
“I think it’s a great community. More people are working together to try to open new businesses. I would rather see them open businesses here than open somewhere else. I hate that the economics are like it is but we just need to adjust and do the best we can,” Marshall said.
