UPDATE: Vehicle recovered from the Saline was reported stolen and appears to have been purposely wrecked in the River

Saline River Chronicle received an official update Monday morning from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department in regards to a story we broke Sunday afternoon of a vehicle being recovered from the Saline River near the Jim Young Bridge on Highway 63 north of Warren.

On 05 FEB 2023 Deputy Jose Ramirez responded to report of a vehicle in the water on the Saline River, North of Warren. Upon arrival, deputy Ramirez discovered a vehicle, partially submerged. The vehicle in question, a 2021 GMC Acadia, belonging to Juan Hernadez of Pine Bluff, was removed from the water by Cathey’s Wrecker service around 3:45 p.m. Ramirez sent a request to Jefferson county in an effort make contact with the owner and was advised by a Jefferson County deputy that the vehicle had been reported by the owner as stolen, earlier in the day. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, Ramirez discovered that a stick, approximately four feet long in length had been wedged between the driver seat and the gas pedal, indicating that the vehicle was intentionally driven into the river. Other evidence was retrieved from the vehicle that will be submitted to the crime lab for latent testing in an effort to assist Jefferson county in the identity of a possible suspect. No other action was taken.
