Dorothy Mae Shepherd, 1940-2023

Dorothy Mae Shepherd, age 82, of Plantersville (Drew County), Arkansas passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023. She was born March 11, 1940 in New Edinburg, Arkansas to Johnny Marion and Verna Louella Morgan Parker. She is preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Robert Daymon Parker and Betty Green; and two grandchildren, Tabitha Marie Lasiter and Amber Michelle Wilson.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Shepherd, whom she married December 31, 1988; her children, Rita Lasiter and husband Philip, Sharon Davis and husband Brad, Marshall Wilson and wife Becky, Colleen Shepherd, Donny Shepherd and wife Felicia, Janelle Shepherd, and Paul Shepherd and wife Melissa; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Rawls; and sister-in-law, Diane Parker. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends that loved her.

She was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star in the Warren Chapter #3. Dorothy was a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association and a stockholder to Saline & Ouachita Valley Livestock Association. She retired from Potlatch and was a retired contract poultry grower for Tyson Foods and was a longtime farmer and livestock producer. Dorothy was an excellent cook and she always made sure that no one left her house hungry.

Funeral service was 10:00am, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Frazer’s Funeral Home with Brother Michael Shepherd officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons Philip Lasiter, Jr., Jason Davis, Jared Davis, Michael Shepherd, Matthew Shepherd and Josh Shepherd. Burial was at Rock Springs Cemetery in Drew County.
