First win of the season grabbed by Lady Jacks in emphatic fashion

WARREN, Ark. – The weather finally cooperated as the Lady Jacks played host to The Lady Owls of McGehee Monday, March 13. The Lady Jacks picked up their first win of the season 12-2.

Lady Jacks Pitcher Hannah Taulbee struck out the first two batters of the game. With two outs she hit a batter and issued a base on balls before inducing a ground ball for the final out of the inning. In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Jacks struck first. Ember Johnson led off with a double, then stole third base. Paige Byrd walked and stole second. Charlie Wardlaw followed with an RBI single to score Johnson. Hannah Taulbee singled to score Byrd. Charlie Wardlaw stole home. Hannah Taulbee reached base on an infield single. She then stole second and third bases. Taulbee scored on a sacrifice fly. Warren led 4-0 at the end of the first inning.

In the top of the second inning, McGehee went down peacefully. In the bottom of the inning, Heidi Taulbee reached base on a strike three pass ball by the McGehee catcher. She stole second base but was left stranded. After two innings, the score remained 4-0 in favor of Warren.

In the top of the third, McGehee went down 1-2-3. In the bottom of the third Charlie Wardlaw singled. Hannah Taulbee had a bunt single. With one out, Alyssa Calbert had a two-RBI double. Heidi Taulbee had a two-out single to drive in another run.

In the top of the fourth, the Lady Owls picked up an unearned run. The Lady Jacks picked up two runs in the bottom of the inning. Paige Byrd and Charlie Wardlaw scored.

McGehee picked up a base runner in the top of the fifth due to an error. A solid Warren defense kept the Lady Owls off the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the fifth, Jolie Trussell led off the inning with a base on balls but was unable to score. The Lady Jacks still led 9-1.

In the top of the sixth, the Lady Owls loaded the bases but were only able to pick up one run. The Lady Jacks picked up three runs. Kailey Henry singled to lead off the inning. With one out Bracy Bickers singled and Jolie Trussell walked. Heidi Taulbeeā€™s two-out double gave the Lady Jacks a 12-2 victory.

For the Lady Jacks, Charlie Wardlaw went two for two with two base on balls. She also scored three runs. Paige Byrd went one for three with a walk and she scored two runs. Heidi and Hannah Taulbee each went two for four. Hannah scored two runs. Alyssa Calbert and Bracy Bickers each went one for three. Bracy scored a run. Ember Johnson and Kailey Henry went one for four and both scored a run. Jolie Trussell had two base on balls.

Hannah Taulbee went the distance on the mound. She struck out four while giving up only one hit. The Lady Jack defense once again played a very solid game. She was named the Greg Harton Shelter Insurance Player of the Game.

Warren plays host to Crossett tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m.
