Harry Mack Thomas, 1948-2023

Harry Mack Thomas, 75, of Marsden, passed away March 4, 2023. Born January 27, 1948, a son of the late Jimmy and Mattie Thomas. He attended school in Hermitage and was very athletic. He accepted Christ at an early and became a member of Weary Rest Baptist Church.

He joined the army on January 10, 1967, where he received basic training as a medical corpsman and CBR Nuclear Defense and received commendations for sharpshooter, ACM, NDSM, VSM, VCM and ACM.

Harry married Nettie Jo Clark on April 5, 1969. She preceded him in death.

He was a truck driver at Potlatch and served as vice president of the union. In his prime he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He served as president of Friendship 120 Hunting Club. Harry proclaimed in his own words, 

“I have fished all over Southeast Arkansas.”  His motto was, “If the cotton out there, I’ll get it.”

He loved sports, playing dominoes, card games and spending time with family and friends. 

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laronda Childs; siblings, Ray Lee Thomas, James Thomas, Earl Thomas, Billy Ray Thomas, Barron Coleman, Jimmie Nell Russell, Lula Faye McFarland and 

Phyllis Hines.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina of El Dorado; grandson, Jacob; great grandson, Calen; siblings, Roy Thomas (Marilyn), Vernia Kent; in-laws, Buster Clark, Archia Turner; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held March 18 at Weary Rest Baptist Church in Marsden. Burial in Weary Rest Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
