Saline River Chronicle

SRC unanimously accepted as a member of the Arkansas Press Association

Saline River Chronicle was notified earlier this month that our digital publication has been unanimously accepted as a new member of the Arkansas Press Association.

“Everyone who helps put the chronicle together each and every day is incredibly honored to be accepted into such an historic organization as the Arkansas Press Association, which has been helping support newspapers for 150 years,” said Saline River Chronicle owner Rob Reep.

As a new media member of the APA, Saline River Chronicle will be eligible to receive press credentials, be given access to seminar and convention opportunities, as well as be recognized as a member in the Arkansas Press Association Media Directory.

Founded in 2010 during the very cusp of the digital publication boom in Arkansas, Saline River Chronicle has quickly become a part of the routines of so many residents in Bradley County. Published daily and at no cost to the reader, Saline River Chronicle serves over 10,000 individual readers on a consistent daily basis.

The Arkansas Press Association has served newspapers since 1873, and Reep says acceptance into an organization such as this echoes the progress and transformation that has taken place over the last decade-plus. “Founded in 2010 as a simple local news blog, Saline River Chronicle has been part of a massive shift in the way users consume local news. From our early days of around 1,000 people on the site, to now delivering daily and sometimes up-to-the-minute breaking news directly into the reader’s palm with our mobile-friendly site, we are so happy to have come so far and even more excited to continue to grow with technology into the future,” said Reep.

He went on to give thanks to the community for their support, as well as the advertisers who make it all possible. “I’m also so thankful to our staff. While it’s still a very small group of us, those who help me put the site’s content together every day deserve an immense amount of credit. Being accepted as a member of the Arkansas Press Association is quite a recognition of the work that’s been done.”

Reep says Saline River Chronicle looks forward to continuing to serve the people of Bradley County as well as those who visit the site from outside the main coverage area.

  1. Congratulations on such an honor! Didn’t know it had been that long, I know it’s been a pleasure to me to be able to keep up with what is going on at “home” Bradley County.
