The Orange and Black started the scoring in the bottom of the opening frame with four runs, all scored with two outs. Ervin Rivera drove in the first run on the first pitch he saw by plating Maddox Lassiter with a single to left field and Landon Wolfe followed with a RBI hit of his own to score Delfino Rivera. A two-run double to right field by Bryson Harris pushed the score to 4-0.

Harris plated another run in the bottom of the third with a single before Ren Reep lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Jacks a 6-0 edge. Warren’s offense stayed hot the following inning with a double from Nathan Spears to score Eli Densmore. Spears touched home plate on an RBI groundout from Lassiter and two batters later Wolfe scored Kolby Pope, who doubled earlier in the frame, on a base hit. Another base knock by Harris tallied the team’s fourth run of the inning to make the score 10-0.

However, Pope, who had breezed through the first four innings, ran into some trouble in the top of the fifth. The Eagles registered three runs with a run-scoring single and two-run double to climb within 10-3. Whatever momentum the visitors gained in the inning was short-lived as Lassiter swatted a two-run bomb over the right-field fence to push the Warren lead to 12-3.

The score moved to 12-4 in the sixth when Crossett added an unearned run. The Jacks didn’t make any noise in the bottom half, but Lassiter tossed a scoreless top of the seventh to secure the eight-run victory for the home team.

Pope earned the victory on the mound as the sophomore pitched six innings with four runs allowed (three earned) on seven hits and six punchouts against one walk. He also added a double and a run scored on offense. Lassiter walked one and struck out one in his one inning of work.

Harris led the Orange and Black’s offense with his 4-for-4 effort at the plate and four RBIs to be named the Greg Harton Shelter Insurance Player of the Game. Lassiter knocked in three runs, including two on his round-tripper, and scored two runs. Warren received two-hit performances from Spears and Wolfe. Spears scored two runs with one RBI, while Wolfe tallied two RBIs and scored a run. Ervin Rivera scored a team-best three runs, while his brother Delfino Rivera scored twice.

Warren travels to Star City for its first road conference contest Wednesday evening in a game that was moved up a day in advance of anticipated rainfall. Tomorrow’s first pitch against the Bulldogs is set for 5:00 p.m.
