BCMC Medical and Health Foundation board showcases new conference room furniture

Bradley County Medical Center Medical and Health Foundation board showcased new furniture they bought for the hospital’s conference room during a meeting Monday.

The foundation purchased $25,000 worth of conference tables and chairs. The Hospital Auxiliary also added $8,000 for a whiteboard and video screen and equipment.

Foundation board members are President Bridgette Harding, Vice President Sue Martin, Treasurer Jane Harris and members Charlotte Tenner-Brown, Brenda Bryant, Sharon Ellis, Liz McKinstrey, Glenetta Burks and Jeanette Hooper.

Planning continued for a Doctors Recognition Banquet to be held at 6 p.m. May 5 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased from any board member.

Alonzo Hampton will be the guest speaker at the fundraising banquet. A Warren native, he returned to Warren as a defensive coordinator in 2000-2003, served as head football coach at Dumas High School from 2004-2005 and spent from 2006-2010 coaching with the Golden Lions. He then served as a defensive backs coach at Western Kentucky, defensive analyst at Oregon, special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at the University of South Florida, defensive analyst at Arkansas and assistant coach and special teams coordinator for the University of Louisiana at Monroe (where he spent four years as a defensive back), before becoming the head coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff last year.

Hampton completed a minority internship with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles and later played for the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars and NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy.

Doctors to be honored at the banquet are Scott Claycomb, Michelle Weaver, Kristen Dent, Joe “Hank” Wharton, Kerry Pennington, Dichelle George, Brad Biggers and Althea Conley Augustine.
