Halee Byrd named BCMC April Employee of the Month

April’s Employee of the Month at Bradley County Medical Center is Halee Byrd from the Surgery Department! Halee’s nomination reads as follows:

This employee models the behavior of caring for one another in multiple ways. She is always concerned about not only her job, but the overall financial health of the organization by helping with patient insurance eligibility checks.  She does anything that is asked of her both inside and outside of her department whether it’s ensuring that we are charging correctly, checking eligibility, or caring for patients or other staff members. She has sent me cards on more than one occasion just to tell me that I am doing a good job and that she appreciates me. They are always at a time where I could really use an encouraging word.

It was how I saw her care for, not just patients at BCMC, but community members that compelled me to write this nomination. When a member of our community fell and needed medical attention, she was one of the first people to arrive. Her words were something like, “are you okay, I was just headed to see you”. She is not a home health nurse and has no obligation to help someone in the manner. Her words showed me that she is someone who cares for people deeply and this was not a one-time occurrence. She had helped this patient/community member on multiple occasions. She works within her department and outside of her department. I have seen her myself in both med-surg and in the ER caring for patients, neither of which are her department.

I have never heard a negative word come from this employee. I have also never received or heard of a complaint from a patient or fellow employee regarding this staff member.

This employee has always been willing to step outside of her comfort zone to do whatever is necessary to benefit the organization. As mentioned before, she has been willing to step in to help with revenue cycle and is regularly seen working in other departments.I have never seen this employee untidy. Her department is one of the cleanest departments in the hospital. When I go in that department I am amazed at how nice and tidy it is. She is always working whether the department has patients or not.
