Lady Jacks dominate Watson Chapel in Wednesday matchup

WARREN, Ark. – The Lady Jacks took to the field on Wednesday, April 12, to host the Watson Chapel Lady Cats. Despite a rare error that allowed the Lady Cats to scratch out a run in the top of the 1st inning, the Lady Jacks quickly gained momentum in the bottom of the inning. Ember Johnson led off with a single and advanced to third on a two-base error by Watson Chapel. Johnson scored on a passed ball, while Hannah Taulbee walked and later scored on a Kaley Henry sacrifice. Although Bracey Bickers drew a 3-out walk, she was left stranded, leaving the Lady Jacks with a 2-1 lead.

Watson Chapel went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 2nd inning, with Hannah Taulbee striking out the final 2 batters. In the bottom of the inning, Kaylee Nichols reached base with two outs but was left on second.

While Watson Chapel got a single with two outs in the top of the 3rd inning, the Warren defense held strong. In the bottom of the inning, Hannah Taulbee led off with a base on balls and scored on Charlie Wardlaw’s RBI double. Wardlaw scored on Kailey Henry’s RBI single, while Heidi Taulbee singled. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Jolie Trussell reached on an error that scored Taulbee and Henry. Felicity Crockett drove in Trussell with an RBI single. Kaylee Nichols walked, and Ember Johnson was hit by a pitch. Crockett scored on a hit by Hannah Taulbee, while Kaylee Nichols scored on a passed ball. In her second at-bat of the inning, Charlie Wardlaw hit a 2-RBI double. Wardlaw scored on Kailey Henry’s RBI sacrifice fly, leaving the Lady Jacks with a commanding 10-run lead of 12-1.

In the top of the 4th, the leadoff batter reached on a walk but was thrown out while trying to steal 2nd. The following two batters struck out. In the bottom of the inning, Jolee Trussell started with a 1-out single, and Felicity Crockett walked. Kaylee Nichols’ sacrifice scored Trussell, while Ember Johnson’s double scored Crockett, and Johnson scored on an error. Warren stretched its lead to 15-1.

In the top of the 5th, the Lady Jacks’ defense secured the game.

The Lady Jacks claimed a dominant 15-1 win over Watson Chapel.

Ember Johnson and Hannah Taulbee scored 3 runs each, while Charlie Wardlaw went 2-3 with 2 doubles and scored 2 runs. Kailey Henry went 1-1 and scored a run, while Heidi Taulbee went 1-3 and scored a run. Jolie Trussell and Felicity Crockett each went 1-3 and scored 2 runs. Kaylee Nichols went 1-2 and scored a run.

Heidi Taulbee pitched a complete game, picking up the win. She allowed 1 hit and walked 2, while allowing 1 run and striking out 6.

The Lady Jacks are scheduled to travel to Monticello Thursday to take on the Lady Billies.
