Rotary hears program on Backwoods Trap Shooters team

The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday for its weekly meeting inside First United Methodist Church and heard from Warren Junior Rotarian Anna Gorman to begin things.

Rotarian Leeanna Williams then served as her own program as she presented a slideshow presentation on the Backwoods Trap Shooters team. The team is made up of local youth in grades 5-8 for the Junior Division and 9-12 for the Senior Division. They are an AYSSP (Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program) trap shooting team through the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and have 33 total members on the squad. The team has competed in Camden twice this year and has Regionals coming up on May 5-6 in Jacksonville, Ark. Williams stated that safety is of upmost importance with the team and is stressed at all times. They have to use 12-gauge or 20-gauge shotguns in their tournaments. She also gave some history of the team that was started in 2010 by Charles Bridwell and answered a few questions from the crowd to conclude her program.
