Warren Softball drops Thursday road game to Monticello

MONTICELLO, AR – The softball version of Saline River Shootout Part II took place on Thursday, April 13, as the Warren Lady Lumberjacks traveled to Monticello to take on the Lady Billies.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Lady Jacks went down 1-2-3. In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Billies got a couple of base runners, but the Warren defense held them scoreless.

Monticello pitching kept Warren hitters in check in the top of the 2nd. Monticello once again got a base runner on, but pitching and defense kept the game scoreless.

The Lady Jacks remained hitless for three innings. Monticello picked up 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the 4th inning, Paige Byrd reached base and scored on Ember Johnson’s RBI triple. Johnson scored on Charlie Wardlaw’s sacrifice fly. Warren tied it up 2-2. However, in the bottom of the 4th, the wheels came off the wagon for the Lady Jacks. The Lady Billies scored 10 runs to take a 12-2 lead.

In the top of the 5th inning, the Lady Jacks went down 1-2-3.

Monticello picked up the 12-2 win.
