New Edinburg gears up for exciting ventures

The following is the complete minutes of the most recent Re-New-ing Edinburg meeting from May 16, 2023:

Martha Tolano, President, called the meeting to order and minutes of the April meeting were passed out to those in attendance. Motion was made by Trenna Kemp, seconded by Melody Spears to accept the minutes as presented. Motion passed.

Linda Hornaday, treasurer, passed out the financial statement and gave a brief report. With no questions or corrections, it will be filed for audit.

Roger McClellan informed the group that he currently had six brick orders with a few forms currently being completed by Clara Morgan, therefore, he would be placing the brick order in the next week or so. He also said that he was currently looking for the “spacer” bricks which would be needed before installing the new bricks.

Patricia McClellan reminded the group that May 31 was the last date for the Great American Pickup and that everyone needed to complete the trash pickup around their designated roads. She has distributed t-shirts and bags to 15 people.

Re-New-ing Edinburg sponsored the 2nd game night at the community center April 28 and everyone agreed it was a great success with approximately 25 people enjoying fun, food and fellowship. Motion was made by Linda Hornaday, seconded by Trenna Kemp, to hold the next game night on June 23 at 6:00 p.m. Motion passed. Trenna Kemp volunteered to organize the event.

July 8 from l0 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the date for the All-School Reunion at the community center. The lunch meal will be catered by the Golden Girls Restaurant in Warren and the meal tickets will be sold for $15 each. Everyone is in encouraged to invite friends, family, teachers and students to attend the event. Patricia McClellan will print the tickets and they will be available to purchase June 1.

Under new business, a motion was made and seconded to hold the annual back to school splash at the community center on August 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group discussed having two blowups this year, snow cones, hot dogs, and once again providing school supplies to the children attending. Motion passed.

Trenna Kemp attended the Cleveland County Kickstart quarterly meeting Monday, May 15 and she gave a brief report on events scheduled around the county. The week of May 22-May 27 has been designated as EMT week and the Kickstart group is asking each action group to provide food and snacks to the county ambulance employees. Everyone agreed to participate and Trenna Kemp will coordinate the activity for this group.

The Jr Livestock show will be held at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in May. Roger and Patricia will put up the American flags throughout town prior to Memorial Day weekend. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 20 at 6 p.m. Meeting adjourned.
