City planning to restart the Bryant’s Building demolition cleanup

WARREN, Ark. – After a temporary halt, the City of Warren is preparing to restart the cleanup efforts at the former Bryant’s Building demolition site on Main Street. Mayor Gregg Reep tells Saline River Chronicle plans are underway to resume the cleanup operations, which were put on hold due to concerns about the neighboring church building to the north.

The church building located to the north of the demolition site was found to have a crack near the southeastern corner, but officials do not believe it is at risk of collapsing. An engineer was brought in to inspect the structure. Some repairs may be necessary, but they do not believe it’s a serious enough matter to keep cleanup from starting once again. With the safety of the community in mind, the city decided to pause the cleanup until the situation with the church building could be assessed.

Mayor Gregg Reep assured the public that the City of Warren is actively working to schedule the cleanup of the Bryant’s Building property. In order to streamline the process, the city is coordinating its efforts with Bradley County and Judge Klay McKinney.

As part of the collaboration, Bradley County has committed to assisting with the hauling off of debris from the site. The debris will be transported to the Bradley County Landfill, where it will be properly disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
