Donna Liue Neal McMurry, 1955-2023

Donna Liue Neal McMurry passed away after a lengthy illness on June 12, 2023 in San Antonio, TX.  She was born on August 18, 1955 in Little Rock, AR.  After attending many of her school years in Waldo, AR, she graduated in 1974 from Hall High School in Little Rock, AR.

Her first job after high school was working nights at ColorPrint, a photo-printing company which set the trend for the rest of her life (dedicated “night owl”).  She went from there to be a favorite bartender at many of the popular hangouts in Little Rock:  Americana Inn, John Barlycorns, Cajun’s Wharf and others.  After spending the late 80s and early 90s soaking up the sun in Montego Bay, Jamaica, she relocated to San Antonio, TX.   Donna became a much sought-after specialist in finding and fitting shoes for her customers at Shoemakers Inn.  She retired from Kohl’s after a stroke in 2015.

Donna loved spending time with her kitties, her sisters and their families.  Never having children of her own, she loved each of her nieces and grandnieces as if they were hers by birth.  

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Haskell Aaron McMurry and Sara Ellen (Poe) McMurry Thompson; her grandparents, R.W. and Mary Elizabeth (Wolfe) McMurry and Daniel R. and Jessie (Roland) Poe. 

She is survived by her sisters, Diane McMurry Gardner (Marvin) and Melinda McMurry Bell (Ivan); nieces: Betsy Gardner (Beck), Erin Bell Coney (Chad); grand nieces: Bailey, Aly, and Gracee, as well as numerous much-loved cousins and friends.

Graveside service was 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at McFarland Cemetery in Banks, AR.  Memorials may be given to McFarland’s Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Ginger Ricks, 125 Bradley Road, Banks, AR 71631.
