Joyce Elizabeth Green, 75, of Johnsville, passed away May 26, 2023. Born February 12, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Fermit Sr. and Nola Ray.
Joyce married the love of her life, James Elester ‘Tank’ Green, on March 29, 1969. To this union three children were born. Joyce was a devoted mother who loved to cook, spend time with family, work crossword puzzles and adored her fur babies.
Joyce received Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Johnsville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Green Sr.; siblings, Virginia Jones, Charles Ray, Raymond Ray and Bruce Ray Sr.
Joyce is survived by her children, Craig Green (Arlesia) of Monticello, James Green Jr. (Angelica) of Monroe, Louisiana, Daphne Green of St. Louis, Missouri; siblings, Herman Ray, Nathaniel Ray, Dennis Ray, Fermit Ray Jr., James Ray, Laverne Hampton; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was June 4 at Antioch Baptist Church in Johnsville. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery, Johnsville. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
