WARREN, Ark. – Local photographer Michael Weatherford has gained recognition in the photography community for his captivating nature shots. His talent recently landed him the prestigious spotlight in Bedford Camera and Video’s June 2023 Photographer Spotlight.
Weatherford, a retired professional forester, has always been passionate about nature and photography. Over the years, he has worked in forest management for various forest products companies, covering every Southeast state except Florida. Now happily retired in South Arkansas, Weatherford resides with his wife Nancy on what he described as “their own little wildlife preserve,” to Bedford Camera and Video. The unique Warren property serves as his primary photography studio.
With a photography journey spanning decades, Weatherford’s passion was ignited when he purchased his first real camera, a Pentax Spotmatic, back in 1969 while serving in the US Air Force. Since then, he has embraced modern technology and currently utilizes Nikon’s Z7II and Z6II cameras to capture his stunning images.
When asked about his favorite subjects, Weatherford expressed a particular affinity for butterflies, birds, and wildflowers. His ability to capture the delicate details of these natural wonders has made his work stand out.
