FIRST ON SRC: Work crews resume cleanup at old Bryant’s Furniture building lot

WARREN, Ark. – After a pause of several weeks, work crews have once again returned to the old Bryant Furniture Building lot on Main Street in Warren to resume the cleanup efforts. The site is seeing progress as additional work rigs arrived on Friday, July 21, to ramp up the cleaning process.

Earlier in the week, the cleanup restart commenced with crews focusing on removing iron debris towards the back of the property on the west side. The project, initiated earlier this year, faced a temporary suspension in late May due to concerns regarding an adjacent building to the north. Structural engineers have since assessed and cleared the safety issue, allowing the cleanup to proceed with confidence.

The City of Warren had been awaiting clearance from State authorities before resuming the demolition efforts. With the green light now given, the cleanup operation has gained momentum, offering a sigh of relief for residents who have eagerly anticipated the restoration of the area.

The adjacent church building to the north, which was the primary cause of concern, was also inspected by structural engineers. While some repairs will be needed, it has been deemed structurally sound and poses no threat to the ongoing cleanup operation.

Bradley County is been playing a crucial role in assisting with the cleanup. County crews are actively involved in hauling debris from the site to the Bradley County Landfill, a vital contribution to the smooth progress of the demolition project.

This marks the second major demolition effort in the downtown Warren area this year.

The Saline River Chronicle will continue to monitor and report on the ongoing cleanup efforts, keeping the community informed on the latest developments and progress of this crucial demolition project.
