Recently condemned vacant residential structure burns Saturday; Fire under investigation

WARREN, Ark. – A vacant residential property located at 1720 West Pine in Warren was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday, September 2, 2023. The Warren Fire Department responded to the incident at approximately 10:12 pm.

The house, which had been condemned for some time due to code violations related to junk and cleanliness, had become the subject of recent action by the Warren City Council. As Saline River Chronicle first reported, in late August, the council voted unanimously to address the issue by cleaning up the property and boarding up the house, as per the request of the current owners.

City officials had nearly completed the cleanup of the entire property when the fire occurred. At the time of the incident, the house had already been boarded up by the City.

According to the City of Warren, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No further details about the investigation have been released at this time.

The structure was a total loss.
