Mainline Health Systems Inc. receives $5,000 grant from the Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Mainline Health Systems Inc. (MHSI) recently received a grant from the Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation. The Pine Bluff Community Foundation is part of the Arkansas Community Foundation Program.

The grant will be used to purchase diabetes education tools to make it easier for patients to set and meet self-management goals. Often, people will say, “I know what I should do. I just don’t do it,” says Jane Pelkki, Director of Health Education. Tools that our diabetes educators will get to purchase with these grant funds are realistic-looking food models, portion plates showing appropriate serving sizes, measuring cups and spoons, and foot exam mirrors. Jane also stated, “this will help MHSI patients take charge of their own health, one baby step at a time.” She also says that “research shows that when people with diabetes participate in diabetes education sessions, they improve their eating habits, their physical activity habits, and their diabetes control.”

MHSI takes pride in their services and care they offer, and stand firm on their brand promise to be compassionate professionals and offer the highest quality care. The diabetes education team at MHSI is dedicated to helping patients reach their health goals, manage their diabetes, and improve their overall wellbeing.
