Precious Jewels Birthing Project’s hosts touching tribute to maternal and infant loss

Precious Jewels Birthing Project recently hosted the Maternal and Infant Loss Ceremony in honor of a National Holiday. Although the crowd was small, the ceremony was a profoundly moving and beautiful tribute. The evening commenced with a warm welcome from Mayor Warren Gregg Reep, setting the tone for a meaningful event. Minister Theresa Cooper then delivered a scripture reading and a powerful, heartfelt prayer that touched the hearts of all in attendance.

Gwendolyn White graced the gathering with a beautiful song she had written, titled “I Am Thy Mother.” Her performance added a touching and personal dimension to the ceremony, connecting deeply with the theme of maternal and infant loss. Following this, Hajime White, the director of Precious Jewels, provided a heartfelt explanation of the ceremony’s significance, after which she courageously shared her own story of the loss of her first child, who was born still, as well as her experiences with miscarriages.

The night concluded with a poignant Ceremony Walk and the Lighting of Candles. Minister Theresa Cooper led the walk and candle lighting in memory of her son, J’Kyron Hines. Hajime White did the same, honoring the memory of her stillborn son, Johnathan Ali White, and the children she lost to miscarriages. The evening came to a quiet and reflective close as a moment of silence was observed with the candles aglow.

Precious Jewels Birthing Project would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Gregg Reep, St. John A. M.E. Church in Warren, Arkansas, Poke Chop New and Used, Precious Jewels Birthing Project Sister Friends, and Saline River Chronicle for their support in making this event possible. The ceremony served as a touching and important remembrance of the profound impact of maternal and infant loss, offering solace and healing to those who attended.
