WHS Band Director Chris Sanders presents program to Rotary

The Rotary Club of Warren met for its weekly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 17 at First Methodist Church. The club went through its normal rituals, but Rotarian Bob Milton had an interesting topic for the “Happy Box,” which the money put in goes to the Bradley County Imagination Library. Milton shared with the club a record book that was found in the recent Eagle Democrat’s move that was from the club’s start in 1920.

Sanders talked about his love of music and how band was instrumental in his life to shape the person he is today. He mentioned that he started out at SAU but graduated from Henderson State. He was able to get a job with his hometown band at Magnolia High School but is now in his first year as Warren’s Band Director. A drummer by trade, Sanders talked about the state of the band room when he first got here and mentioned how he wanted to restore pride and a respect of history among the students. The excitement he has for the direction of the WHS was evident during his speech. Additionally, he had two of his band members, J’Ciana Strong and Alex Ayala, attend the meeting with him and introduced them to the club.
